Apples and Bananas

This great little song is not only fun, but a great way to help toddlers learn the sounds of the vowels.  After singing the first verse normally you sing it five more times, each time replacing the vowel sounds in the words “eat,” “apples” and “bananas” with the long vowel sounds of A, E, I, O and U.

I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas
I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas

I like to ate, ate, ate ay-ples and ba-nay-nays
I like to ate, ate, ate ay-ples and ba-nay-nays

I like to eat, eat, eat ee-ples and ba-nee-nees
I like to eat, eat, eat ee-ples and ba-nee-nees

I like to ite, ite, ite ie-ples and ba-nie-nies   [pronounced with long "i" sound]
I like to ite, ite, ite ie-ples and ba-nie-nies

I like to ote, ote, ote oa-ples and ba-no-nos
I like to ote, ote, ote oa-ples and ba-no-nos

I like to ute, ute, ute oo-ples and ba-nu-nus
I like to ute, ute, ute oo-ples and ba-nu-nus
